Days 67 – 77

Timber Creek

We left Broome and drove for 2 days. This creek was at the back of our campsite – can you see the bats? Mum and Dad saw crocodiles at night in the creek.

Bitter Springs

The next day we drove to Bitter Springs (Mataranka) again. This is still one of our favourite spots. Che still likes diving under.

Matt enjoys diving.

Alice Springs

We stopped off at Alice Springs again. It was much hotter this time. We hired a pedal go-cart at the caravan park.

Even Dad had a go. (Mum did too.)

Matt took Che for a ride.

and at sunrise.

We did a guided walk with a ranger. She let us hold a woomera. The flies were really bad here – we wore fly nets.

Matt is holding the spear thrower.

UluruHome10

Che and Matt are about to throw spears.

UluruHome11

Che just threw a boomerang, can you see it?

UluruHome12

Matt is also throwing a boomerang.

UluruHome13

We had a goanna visit our campsite.

UluruHome14

We drove out to Kata Tjuta.

UluruHome15

Matt was very tired.

Coober Pedy

We tried to put up the caravan but it was too windy (40 knots+) so we booked into an underground motel. Che and Matt thought it was a hobbit hole.

UluruHome18

We went for a walk to the lower levels.

After driving a total of 14500 km and travelling for 11 weeks we have arrived home. When we got home it was cold, wet and windy – we want to go away again!

Hi Matt, Che, Kristin and David, welcome back to South Australia,it has been cold, wet and windy but spring is springing and the record number of mosquitoes here are giving way to record numbers of flies.
Learning to throw boomerangs and spears looked cool.Did you use the woomera to throw the spear and how far could you boys each get it to go? Was the boomerang the sort that comes back to you?
Was Coober Pedy the first night of your trip you didn`t sleep in your camper trailer?
Thanks for sharing your stories and photos, its been quite an adventure,
    Ray.

WOW! I loved following all your fascinating adventures, great photos and funny stories Che and Matt. Thank you for taking time to post your articles and pictures along the way and congratulations on getting back safe and sound! It was fun to see how you two boys approached each new adventure and how much you love to swim and admire and appreciate the landscape and wildlife. I must say, I would be hard-pressed to swim in some of the waters you chose, but good on ya’.

With much love and admiration, and best wishes to your mum and dad,
    Great Aunt Dorothy
