Days 44 – 48
We stayed at El Questro Station in a campground by the river. It was really hot there. The first afternoon we drove around a bit with the air-conditioner on because it was too hot to do anything else.
We stood on a jetty together. The boat in the background is the one we went on the day after .
This is a picture of a river that we took from a lookout. Dad saw a logodile down there.
This is a lookout that we went to. Mum was a bit scared on the really steep bits.
We went on a dingy on the Chamberlain River early in the morning. We did not see anyone else all morning.
Matt is driving the boat through the Chamberlain Gorge. Matt says it was quite easy to drive.
Che is driving the boat now.
This is the Chamberlain Gorge. On the way back the motor stopped working completely so Mum and Dad had to paddle back. They had forgotten to give us paddles but luckily Mum took some from another boat before we left. Lucky. Otherwise we would have been stuck up the river without a paddle.
Every afternoon we went swimming at this waterhole at the campground.
The next morning we went to Zebedee Hot Springs. Matt is swimming in one of the many many rock pools.
We are in another rock pool.
This is the biggest pool.
This is a photo that Dad took when he was lying on his back.
We are playing a game together.
Can you see us through the palm trees?
We are all sitting together.
Matt is 8 today! Happy birthday Matt! These are two of his presents.
This is Che and Matt on their horses.
This is Che on Encara.
This is Matt on Moonshine.
Matt had a little ice-cream cake. We had to make it quickly before it melted.
The next morning we got up at 5:30 and packed up the caravan before 7:30. We drove to Emma Gorge and walked into the gorge before it got too hot.
We swam in the pool at the gorge.
The water was very cold except for a little hot spring behind that rock.

Happy birthday Matt!!!!! What an awesome place to have your birthday. I bet you will never forget turning 8!!
I love the rock pools! I’d like to swim in them.
I miss your Mum!!
Lynette

Thanks. I had a good birthday.
Che misses Ryan.
Mum misses you.
From Matt
It was fun Skyping you, seeing the presents, and seeing the inside of the camper van.
My favourite photos were of the palm trees. They are really spectacular. Do they produce any nuts?
Do you go swimming every day? It seems like it because you always have a lot of photos of you swimming.
Hi Grandpa,
We think the palms have some kind of nut- not sure though.
We go swimming pretty much every day. There have been some days we didn’t swim- sometimes even 2 or 3 days in a row.
We liked Skyping you too.
From Matt and Che
Happy birthday Matt. Hope you had a great day. You didn’t look too confident on that horse!
Agree about the palm photos. Probably time for another map so we know where you are. Are you still in crocodile country?
It was a big horse, but Matt (and Che) did really well.
